Hemp is twice as absorbent as cotton and is a slow and stable absorber.  Add a hemp booster to the diaper for heavy wetters or nighttime use.

Made from six layers of remarkably soft hemp (55%) and organic cotton jersey (45%), a hemp booster is a great way to add absorbency without adding bulk to the diaper. As a slower absorber, it pairs very well with our fast absorbing one-size cotton flats and is sized wonderfully to fit inside all of our alpaca diaper covers so you can use the same booster from birth to potty training.

We prefer using these boosters sandwiched inside a pad folded flat for a very trim nighttime solution or for baby-wearing. You can also fold it in half and place in the wet zone for even more unbeatable protection from leaks. You will find this hemp is thicker, softer, and holds-up better than any other on the market.

Each order includes 2 boosters: 1 to use + 1 to wash or they can be stacked together for very heavy wetters and washed daily.

Care

Thirsties natural fiber inserts need to be washed and dried at least three times before use to prep the fabric for absorbency. These hemp-cotton products will be fully primed and at their maximum absorbency after 8 wash cycles.

Pre-wash on warm, wash on hot. Warm rinse if possible. You may hang diapers to dry, or dry in the dryer. If the diapers are stiff after line drying, you can place them in the dryer on low or medium heat with some wool dryer balls to soften them.

Edge Wear Information

We have found that natural fiber diapers develop some edge wear eventually. Natural fibers tend to clean easier than synthetic materials, but you can expect to see wear on natural diapers earlier than a synthetic fiber diaper. There isn’t a standard time frame on when holes might develop as there are too many variables involved; wash routines, water hardness, machine type, detergent and stash size are all variables that need to be considered.  Edge wear holes in the fabric tend to develop in the top layer of natural fiber along the serged edges and leg casings, but in most cases the performance of the diaper is not affected.
